Uses of Domestic Animals

In grade four, we learnt the uses of cattle, sheep, goats and poultry. We will now learn about uses of other domestic animals that are also important to us.

How domestic animals are used

Human beings can use domestic animals for various purposes.

  8. Some domestic animals provide us with hides and skin which are used for making shoes, belts, clothes and ornaments.
  9. Some domestic animals are pets.

Exploring uses of domestic animals

Activity 2

Visiting neighbouring farmers to find out various uses of domestic animals.

Working in groups

  1. Find out which domestic animals are kept by the neighbouring farmers.
  2. Discuss with the farmer the use of each domestic animal. 
  3. Draw a table and record the name and the correct use of domestic animals you learned from the farmer.
  4. Discuss with the farmer any cultural use of domestic animals.
