      As Amina walked to school one morning, she noticed a thick haze hanging in the air. The streets were crowded with cars, their engines idling and releasing fumes that made her eyes sting. She passed a river where plastic bottles and wrappers floated on the surface, creating a murky layer that blocked the sunlight. Nearby, a factory released smog into the sky, turning the clouds gray. Amina coughed and covered her nose with a scarf. She thought about how pollution was affecting her health and the environment. “If we all took small steps,” she whispered, “maybe we could make the city cleaner and the air fresher.”
