In groups of three:

Work out 58-14.

  1. Draw a fraction chart.
  2. Find out how many eighths form a quarter. 
     eighths
  3. Write 14 in form of eighths then subtract from 58. 
    588=8
  4. Discuss your results with other groups.

Work out: 712-14

712-14=712-312=7-312==412=13

Note

14=1×34×3=312

412=4÷412÷4=13
